Rainbow Passage—for gender non-binary soloists, treble ensemble, woodwinds, electronics, and electric piano—sets to music a popular diagnostic text by speech scientist Grant Fairbanks, which contains every sound of the English language.
The piece premiered in New York for the Avant Music Festival at Wild Project, and then performed again, in an expanded version, at the Portland Institute of Contemporary Art's TBA festival, with Holcombe Waller, Holland Andrews, Golden Retriever, and The Julians. Selections from the piece featured at the Public Theater in January 2014 for the Under the Radar Festival.
